  • Position Overview

    Hematology Laboratory Supervisor- Farmingdale, NY

    Monday to Friday 10:00PM-6:30AM with alternating Saturday's


    Job Summary: Directly supervises employees in the Hematology Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Enzo Clinical Lab policies and applicable laws.



    • Assign duties and work hours to subordinates
    • Ensures that schedules are met
    • Schedule and approve vacation and personal days
    • Approve overtime
    • Release critical values
    • Provide coverage for the department
    • Perform all work and functions of a Medical Technologist as needed
    • Provide bench work instructions
    • Assign and monitor special projects for new employees
    • Approve/reject work of subordinates
    • Establish and maintain quality control criteria
    • Supervise the performance of the technical personnel in the department
    • Establish/modify technical procedures
    • Review/approve all procedures in the department
    • Troubleshoot equipment problems and follow up accordingly
    • Reconcile all pending specimens
    • Maintain the procedure manual
    • Maintain a record of the work hours of the department
    • Maintain the work load of the department
    • Maintain safety policies and procedures
    • Maintain inventory control
    • Maintain the quality of work in the department
    • Perform procedures in the department

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    • Interviewing, hiring, and training employees
    • Planning, assigning, and directing work
    • Appraising performance
    • Rewarding and disciplining employees
    • Addressing complaints and resolving problems


    • Licensed by New York State Education Department (NYSED) as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist and 6+ years experience as technologist qualifying as a NYSDOH Supervisor .
    • Bachelors Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or related degree, preferred.
    • Current certification through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), preferred.
