  • Position Overview

    We have two exciting opportunities in our growing Microbiology Laboratory.

    Full-Time Day Shift - Tuesday – Saturday

    Part Time Day Shift Sat & Sun

     

    Perform lab testing in the areas of bacteriology, mycology (limited), parasitology and virology (limited). Identifies bacteria and susceptibilities, yeast, parasites. Performs clinical laboratory procedures, examinations and other tests pursuant to established protocols including maintaining equipment and records, and performing quality assurance activities related to examination performance requiring the exercise of independent judgment and responsibility.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Read cultures on assigned benches, performing biochemical testing, setting up identification and susceptibility testing in potential pathogens, documenting results on worksheets and releasing completed work.
    • Follows established in-process quality control procedures including recording data.
    • Candidate should possess knowledge of pathogenic bacteria from a variety of body sites and be familiar with our current ID and susceptibility test system (MALDI TOF & Vitek2).
    • Review and monitor QC and manual entries. Monitor inventory and supplies.
    • Reporting to NYSDOH communicable diseases.

    Qualifications

    • Licensed by New York State Education Department (NYSED) as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist, required.
    • Bachelors Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or related degree, preferred.
    • Current certification through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), preferred.
    • Minimum of one (1) year work experience working in a Microbiology Laboratory preferred.
