  • Position Overview

    Enzo Biochem has an opening for a dynamic Director of Scientific Affairs and Business Development who is able to demonstrate high level strategic and scientific expertise and guidance across multiple accounts and therapeutic areas. Specifically, the candidate will need clinical development, new product planning and commercial development knowledge. The position is an exciting opportunity to work in multi-faceted role, providing leadership / guidance to the Enzo Biochem Scientific Team, interacting with clients and assisting in Business Development.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide key scientific review, guidance and mentoring in the development of research methods and experimental plans for multiple projects.
    • Initiate and evaluate new scientific concepts and technologies that have a significant impact on company strategy and revenue.
    • Initiate intellectual property activities that have long-term, beneficial influence on the value of the company.
    • Serve as PI (Primary Investigator) on approved studies / trials.
    • Manage large scale projects and programs.
    • Conduct basic and translational research
    • Promote innovation in the development and execution of experimental plans for multiple projects.
    • Develop project plans and schedules for scientific activity, following the product development process and incorporating design for manufacturability concepts.
    • Lead project staff to accomplish team objectives within schedules and cost targets and monitor team progress in meeting project milestones.
    • Lead groups of cross-functional teams to develop integrated strategies and contribute to discussions of scientific developments that lead to setting strategic goals across sites.
    • identify new growth opportunities by commercialization of clinical stage products and early stage technology platform based associations.
    • Function across multiple technical areas, businesses, and R&D to identify and take advantage of synergies within major projects, including interacting extensively with scientists from other disciplines to contribute to projects where appropriate.
    • Author strategy and position papers for the Chief Scientific Officer and other business leaders and present conclusions to senior management.
    • Present, interpret, and recommend broad technical approaches covering major strategic areas.
    • Maintain a significant scientific network, establish and maintain key relationships with outside researchers, and attend relevant scientific conferences.

    Qualifications

    • Doctorate degree in a life science required.
    • Minimum of 10 years of scientific experience in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry required
    • Assistant Professor, PI or similar
    • Experienced Lab manager capable of independently planning and conducting laboratory research as well as independently adapt or modify experimental methods to achieve technical objectives.
    • Proficient in applying for and obtaining extramural grants
    • Thorough understanding of the application of scientific technology in the healthcare / diagnostic industry
    • Experienced Lab manager
    • Previous experience preparing regulatory documents, scientific protocols and reports, design history file content, and SOPs
    • Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills to present data in small to large groups
    • Ability to prioritize and multi-task while maintaining a positive and collaborative attitude
    • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing at all levels, including key internal executives and external stakeholders.
    • Ability to develop and execute strategies following all compliance, legal, and regulatory criteria. 
    • Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to effectively interact with R&D, Marketing and other internal / external teams and with a wide range of stakeholders
    • Experienced with reviewing contracts
    • IP Experience a plus
    • Ability to review and absorb complex topics and articulate pertinent, relevant points
